Description Thanks to the efforts of
Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity.
Amboy Council Amboy has an active Knights of Columbus Organization who serves and supports our parishes and surrounding communities. The Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month in the Parish Hall.
For a number of years now our Knights of Columbus have been busy laying down a cement walking path from just outside town, where the city sidewalk ends, continuing past our cemetery. The old sidewalk is long gone as it was laid 104 years ago.
This has been a gift from them to our Amboy community. Many hours of planning and manual labor have gone into this project spearheaded by Tom Nauman. They are in part funding this project by scraping old metal.
